Giveaway Week: Day 3 EAT & LOVE

Welcome to Day 3 of my Giveaway Week in celebration of my one year blogiversary!

Today, we are featuring Viv from EAT&LOVE. She is, hands down, the best cook I know. But I could be slightly biased... she is my sister and my neighbor. So I have bragged about Viv many times before. She is married to a French guy and has since been visiting France every year with their precious daughter, increasing her passion for international cuisine and culture. Here are some fabulous recipes she has shared on her blog, among many many others.

Vegan Breakfast Muffins

Tiramisu

Yogurt and Crepes

Poblano Packages

Are you drooling yet? I know I am! You might recall the dessert table we put together last year featuring some exquisite turquoise macarons?

And yes, they are as delicious as they look! I am so proud to say that Viv took a culinary class in PARIS and learned how to master these French macarons! I just can't stop bragging! She is offering one lucky Pink Stitches reader a box of 24 fresh made macarons in four Valentine's Day themed flavors: Dark Chocolate and Cherry, Raspberry, Milk Chocolate and Champagne!

So here's how you can enter to win:

Giveaway Week: Day 2 just stitch

Day Two of Giveaway Week is here!!

Today I'm so happy to introduce Morgan, the owner and designer of just stitch. I happened to meet Morgan last year through a mutual friend and she was a huge part of my very first craft fair experience. Her adorable little boy is the same age as my son and they are both obsessed with Transformers so it works out perfectly for us! Morgan also blogs at sweet stitches, which is appropriately named because her creations are the sweetest! Check out some of her great tutorials.

Giveaway Week: Day 1 Craptastic

This past Saturday, I completed one year of blogging!

I can't believe I've been sewing and blogging for a year now. It's amazing. Somewhere along the way, this journey became more than just a way to document what I've accomplished. After 185 posts, I've learned so much about blogging, photography, display, marketing and friendships. This whole experience has become something much more than a hobby and (as I've said MANY times before) I'm so grateful!

So to celebrate my one year blogiversary, I'm hosting one week of amazing giveaways! I've enlisted the help of some incredibly talented ladies.

First up, Katie from Craptastic. You've heard me speak of her many times before but I'm sure you remember her best from the two swaps we did a few months ago. Katie has proven to be such an amazing friend (and swap buddy) this past year! Plus, she shares my obsession with birds, mis-matched fabrics and True Blood. Did I mention she's super talented when it comes to... oh yeah, EVERYTHING! Take a gander at some of her awesome creations.

The Pink Lady

Piggy Cupcakes

Festively Fall

DIY Knockoff Pillows

Just to name a few! So let's get to the big giveaway, shall we? Katie has offered to give one lucky Pink Stitches reader TWO beautiful pillow covers!!

Gorgeous!! I totally wish I could win these. They are just screaming to be put in my craft room! I think another swap is in order...

So here's how you can enter to win:

- Follow Craptastic (1 entry)

- Follow Pink Stitches (1 entry)

- Like Pink Stitches on Facebook (1 entry)

- Heart Pink Stitches on Etsy (1 entry)

Please leave a comment for each entry and remember to include your email address if it isn't available on your profile! I'll announce the winner on Saturday, Jan. 28th. Good luck!

Progress on Quilt

I'm really loving how these blocks are turning out. This fabric line is gorgeous!

I've finished 16 blocks so far, working during nap times and late into the night. I probably would have more done by now but I've been watching episodes of Felicity on Netflix and I'm hooked. The show totally takes me back to my high school/ college years. Good times...

I noticed my etsy shop is looking pretty empty so I'll be working on some more iPad and Kindle cases in between blocks. Here's one that I completed earlier.

My scrap bin is becoming pretty unmanageable so I'm going to be doing some patchwork cases in lots of colors. This one uses mostly purples and greys (one of my favorite combos).

I've listed it in the shop. I need to start using up my ever-growing pile of scraps. Time to hit the Pinterest boards for ideas! Enjoy your Sunday!

One block

I am so excited to finally get started on a new quilt. I knew I wanted to use Liz Scott's new Domestic Bliss fabric collection but I was so undecided on a pattern. After much deliberation, I settled on simple bowtie blocks.

I am taking it slow. I spent last night cutting up the fabric into 4.5" and 2.5" squares. The finished blocks will be 8". I'm pairing them with Kona Sand as the neutral.

I also finally finished up the bag I was sewing up for my dear friend, Nicke. This was supposed to be a Christmas present but, being the procrastinator that I am, it has turned into a very belated New Year's gift. I'm stuffing it with goodies in hope that she'll see past my lateness.

You might recognize the pattern as Anna's 241 tote. They're all over blogland and I've made five of them already. I'm in the midst of making a sixth for myself and then I'll probably be retiring the pattern for awhile.

Well, better get back to piecing if I want to make any progress on these blocks today. Have a wonderful weekend!

Leap Pad

We got AJ a Leap Pad for Christmas. He'd been using my iPad all year and I was so impressed by how much he's learned from it that when I heard about the Leap Pad, I knew it was a must. It even has a camera so he can go picture happy without filling up mommy's memory space.

It was a hit! Worth every penny and worth the huge hastle it was to try to get one. It was sold out everywhere. I felt like Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Jingle All The Way", trying to get the city's last Turbo Man. I was finally able to locate one at Best Buy but all the cases were impossible to get. I knew a handmade case was in order. I didn't use a pattern, just took some measurements and went with it.

I could've made one before Christmas, but I was consumed by my book series and I had a sneaking suspicion that Santa was going to bring me a new sewing machine for Christmas. I secretly retired my old one even before I was 100% sure. Luckily, I was right! And I love it, it's a lot smoother than my old one and has over 100 stitch options. So this was my first project on it. I'm totally satisfied.

I stayed up late working on it while AJ was asleep and I surprised him with it this morning. He was pleased :)

I'm so excited to explore my new machine a bit more and try some new stitches. I ordered some fabric to make a new quilt and am searching for a good pattern. I'm leaning towards Crackle or Comic Strip by Aneela Hoey. Any suggestions?
